After you have worked with linear texts during the seventh and eighth grade, you will learn how to analyze non-linear texts, i.e. pie chart, the bar chart, the table, as well as the line graph.<\/li>\n<li>When you know what linear and a non-linear texts are and when to use them it is important that you know a certain <strong>vocabulary<\/strong> to analyse non-linear texts. Therefore, I have prepared a\u00a0<a title=\"Druck es aus und schreibe die deutschen \u00dcbersetzungen daneben.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dennis-arnold.com\/Schule\/wp-content\/uploads\/01_Vocabulary_non-linear-Texts.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mindmap<\/a> with the necessary vocabulary. Take a bilingual dictionary and translate the words into German. You will need these words in your final exams like the MSA or the Abitur.<\/li>\n<li>After having a good overview about the necessary vocabulary you need to analyze a non-linear text, discover now how to do it. There are four parts:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8230; an introduction<\/li>\n<li>&#8230; a description<\/li>\n<li>&#8230; a generalization<\/li>\n<li>&#8230; an EIPE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">EIPE<\/span> is an <a title=\"Click here for a definition of the word &quot;acronym&quot;.\" href=\"https:\/\/simple.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Acronym\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acronym<\/a> for <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">e<\/span><\/strong>xplanation, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>i<\/strong><\/span>nterpretation, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">p<\/span><\/strong>rediction, and <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">e<\/span><\/strong>valuation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Extra-Practice:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The aim is that you are sure you use the right kind of non-linear text in your next oral presentation, for example. Therefore, practice to justify why a certain kind of non-linear text is appropriate and why another one is not. Therefore, look for different kinds of non-linear texts, form small groups and discuss why you find the kind of text appropriate (or not).<\/p>\n<p>Mind: There is not always one solution. Get together in groups and discuss the different possibilities.
